Your Lancaster, PA Moving Team

Lancaster is two very different moves in one county. In the city, it is brick rowhomes on narrow one-way streets around Central Market, steep staircases in Cabbage Hill and Chestnut Hill, and no driveway to park a truck in. A few miles out, it is stone farmhouses at the end of long lanes, barns full of tools, and back roads you share with Amish buggies. Simple Moving Solutions plans for both, with crews dispatched from our Chadds Ford office, about an hour east on Route 30 or Route 41.

Whether you are moving across Lancaster, out to Lititz or Millersville, or east toward Chester County and the Philadelphia suburbs, every move comes with an itemized quote, trained and insured crews, and Pennsylvania PUC licensing. Why Lancaster Chooses Simple Moving

Moving in Lancaster County means planning for rowhome staircases, farm lanes, and county roads. Here is what you get with our crews.

01

Licensed for Pennsylvania Moves

Simple Relocations, LLC holds Pennsylvania PUC license A-8928842 and USDOT 4531853, so moves within Pennsylvania and across state lines are covered.

02

Rowhome Stairs Are Planned For

City rowhomes in Cabbage Hill, Chestnut Hill, and around Central Market often have tight turns and no off-street parking. We measure the route and plan the truck spot before move day.

03

Farmhouses and Long Lanes

For homes on farm lanes in Manheim Township, East Lampeter, or out toward Strasburg, we confirm truck access, turnaround space, and any barn or outbuilding contents in advance.

04

Itemized Quotes, No Surprises

Every Lancaster quote lists crew size, truck, and services before move day, so there is no surprise charge when the job is done.

05

One Hour From Our Chadds Ford Office

Our Pennsylvania crews leave from Chadds Ford, so Lancaster moves are scheduled with travel time already built into the plan.

06

Storage Between Closings

When closing dates in Lancaster County do not line up, our storage solutions hold your belongings until the new place is ready.

Plan Your Lancaster Move

Every Lancaster move starts with two questions: what kind of home is it, and how hard is it to get furniture out the door? Answer a few and see what the move takes.

As a rule of thumb, a two-bedroom Lancaster move takes a three-person crew about five to six hours, and a city rowhome with a narrow staircase adds about an hour. Farmhouses with barns or long lanes take longer. Call us for a quote built around your home.

Moving Around Lancaster, Neighborhood by Neighborhood

A move downtown is nothing like a move in Manheim Township. Pick your part of Lancaster to see what to expect.

    Downtown and Central Market

    Typical homes

Brick rowhomes, converted lofts, and apartments over storefronts around Penn Square and Gallery Row.

    What to plan for

Narrow one-way streets, metered parking, and Central Market crowds on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday mornings. We schedule downtown loads to avoid market hours where we can.

    Cabbage Hill and Chestnut Hill

    Typical homes

Older rowhomes and twins on steep, tightly packed blocks west and south of downtown.

    What to plan for

Front steps, narrow stairwells, and tight turns. Expect furniture to come apart and plan for a longer carry from the truck.

    Manheim Township and Neffsville

    Typical homes

Suburban single-family homes and newer developments north of the city along Route 222 and Route 272.

    What to plan for

Driveways and easier access. Most moves here are larger homes, so the main planning point is crew size and truck count.

Lancaster Township and School Lane Hills

    Typical homes

Established neighborhoods west of the city, close to Franklin and Marshall College and Wheatland.

    What to plan for

Mature trees and narrower residential streets. Late August and May are busy with college move-ins and move-outs.

    Lititz

    Typical homes

Historic downtown homes on Main Street and newer neighborhoods on the edge of town, about 20 minutes north.

    What to plan for

Older homes with steep stairs downtown, plus a longer drive that we build into the schedule.

    Millersville and Willow Street

    Typical homes

College-town rentals near Millersville University and single-family homes south of the city.

    What to plan for

Student move-ins and move-outs in May and August, and country roads with buggy traffic further south.

    When to Move in Lancaster

Local events and traffic patterns can add hours to a move. Here is what our Lancaster crews plan around.

    Central Market days

Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday mornings bring crowds and limited parking around Penn Square. Downtown loads go smoother on other days or later in the afternoon.

    First Friday

Gallery Row and downtown streets are busy on the first Friday evening of each month. Morning moves on those days are fine; evening unloading downtown is not.

    College move weeks

Franklin and Marshall and Millersville move-ins in late August and move-outs in May fill streets, elevators, and our calendar. Book early if your move lands then.

    Tourist weekends

Summer and fall weekends bring heavy traffic on Route 30 and Route 340 through Bird-in-Hand and Intercourse. Weekday moves east of the city are faster.

    Buggy traffic

Back roads in eastern and southern Lancaster County carry horse-drawn buggies year-round. We plan routes and timing so a farm-road move is not rushed.

    Winter moves

Steep blocks in Cabbage Hill and long farm lanes get icy. Winter moves are often easier to book, and we bring floor protection for snow and slush.

    Lancaster, PA Movers FAQs

How much do movers cost in Lancaster, PA?

It depends on the size of your home, access at both ends, and how far you are going. A city rowhome with a narrow staircase or a farmhouse with a barn to empty takes longer than a suburban home with a driveway. We send an itemized quote before move day so you know the crew, truck, and services up front.

Are you licensed to move within Pennsylvania?

Yes. Simple Relocations, LLC holds Pennsylvania PUC license A-8928842 for moves within Pennsylvania and USDOT 4531853 for interstate moves.

Can you move a rowhome in downtown Lancaster?

Yes. We measure stairs and doorways ahead of time, take apart furniture that will not make the turns, and plan where the truck will park. If the truck needs to stand in a travel lane or metered spaces, check with the City of Lancaster about a temporary street-use permit.

Do you move farmhouses and rural properties in Lancaster County?

Yes. We confirm the lane can take a full-size truck, plan for barns and outbuildings, and build extra travel time into the schedule for back roads.

Where do your Lancaster movers come from?

Our Pennsylvania crews are dispatched from our office at 225 Wilmington West Chester Pike in Chadds Ford, about an hour from Lancaster.

Can you move me from Lancaster to Chester County, Philadelphia, or Delaware?

Yes. Moves along the Route 30 and Route 222 corridors into Chester County, the Philadelphia suburbs, and northern Delaware are some of the most common we handle.
