Your Trusted Allentown Movers
Your Allentown Moving Team
Allentown has changed a lot in a decade. Downtown, new apartment buildings have gone up around the arena, while the West End still has its tree-lined streets of brick twins and big older homes, and Old Allentown its rowhomes with steep front steps. Around the city, Whitehall, Emmaus, and the townships along Route 222 and I-78 keep adding new homes, many bought by people moving in from New Jersey and New York for more space.
Simple Moving Solutions serves Allentown and the Lehigh Valley from our Chadds Ford office, about an hour and fifteen minutes south, and we also move people next door in Bethlehem and Easton. We hold Pennsylvania PUC licensing and federal interstate registration, so a move from New Jersey into the Lehigh Valley is covered start to finish. Every move comes with an itemized quote and trained, insured crews.
Meet Our Team
Why Allentown Chooses Simple Moving
Downtown apartments, older city homes, growing suburbs, and moves in from New Jersey make up most Allentown moves. Here is what you get with our crews.
Downtown Apartments Handled
New buildings downtown come with elevator bookings, loading zones, and insurance certificates. We arrange them with you before move day.
West End and Old Allentown Homes
Older twins and rowhomes have steep front steps and tight stairs. We measure ahead and take apart what will not make the turns.
Moves In From New Jersey and New York
Many Lehigh Valley moves start across the river. We hold USDOT and MC registration for interstate moves, plus Pennsylvania PUC licensing.
Suburban Homes on Route 222
Bigger homes in Upper Macungie, Trexlertown, and Breinigsville mean bigger loads. We size the truck and crew to match.
Licensed and Insured
Pennsylvania PUC license A-8928842, USDOT 4531853, and MC 1797073, with trained and insured crews.
Itemized Quotes
Every Allentown quote lists the crew, truck, travel, and services before move day, so there are no surprises when the job is done.

Packing takes longer than most people expect. Tell us your home size and how much time you have, and see the pace you need to finish before moving day.
As a rule of thumb, a two-bedroom home is about 45 boxes and a four-bedroom home about 85. Most people pack four to five boxes an hour, so give yourself two to three weeks of evenings, or add our packing crew for the kitchen and fragile items.
Planning estimate based on typical box counts and a pace of about 4.5 boxes an hour. Nothing you enter here is sent or saved.
Moving to Allentown From New Jersey or New York?
The Lehigh Valley is one of the most common destinations for people leaving North Jersey and New York. Here is what to plan for.
About 60 to 80 miles on I-78, roughly an hour and a half without traffic. From New York City, plan on two hours or more.
- Plan the I-78 driveMost moves in from New Jersey come across on I-78. We time departure to avoid weekday rush hour at both ends and the truck traffic around the Lehigh Valley warehouses.
- Interstate paperworkA move from New Jersey or New York to Pennsylvania is an interstate move. You get a written estimate, an order for service, a bill of lading, and the federal Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move booklet.
- Building rules at the old placeNew York and North Jersey buildings often need certificates of insurance, elevator bookings, and set move hours. Send us the building's requirements early.
- Storage if closings do not line upSelling in New Jersey and buying in the Lehigh Valley rarely close on the same day. We can hold your belongings until the new house is ready.
- Pennsylvania to-dos after you arriveNew residents have 60 days to get a Pennsylvania driver's license and should register vehicles promptly; most Lehigh Valley towns also collect a local earned income tax.
Moving Around Allentown, Neighborhood by Neighborhood
From downtown to the townships along Route 222, each part of Allentown moves differently. Pick yours.
Downtown Allentown
New apartment buildings around the arena and Hamilton Street, plus older buildings converted to lofts.
Elevator reservations, loading zones, and insurance certificates. Arena event nights fill downtown parking.
The West End
Tree-lined streets of brick twins and large older single-family homes near Muhlenberg College.
Older homes with tight stairs and heavy furniture. Muhlenberg move weeks in late August and May.
Old Allentown and Center City
Victorian rowhomes and twins with steep front steps in the historic neighborhoods near downtown.
Street parking only and narrow stairwells. We plan the truck spot and take apart what will not fit.
East Side and Whitehall
Established neighborhoods and suburban homes north and east of the city along MacArthur Road.
Driveways on most streets; MacArthur Road shopping traffic on weekends.
Emmaus and Macungie
Small boroughs with older homes south of the city, plus newer developments around them.
Older borough homes with narrow stairs; easy access in the newer neighborhoods.
Upper Macungie, Trexlertown, and Breinigsville
Fast-growing townships along Route 222 and I-78 with many newer single-family homes and townhomes.
HOA rules in newer developments, and heavy truck traffic near the warehouses along I-78.
When to Move in Allentown
The fair, college calendars, I-78 traffic, and arena nights all shape an Allentown moving day. Here is what we plan around.
Great Allentown Fair
The fair in late summer brings heavy traffic around the fairgrounds in the West End. We plan routes around it.
I-78 and Route 22 traffic
Weekday rush hours and warehouse truck traffic on I-78 and Route 22 can slow a move. We schedule around them.
College move weeks
Muhlenberg and Cedar Crest move-ins in late August and move-outs in May fill streets near campus.
Arena event nights
Concerts and games downtown fill Hamilton Street parking. We avoid downtown loading on event evenings.
Summer peak
June through August is peak moving season, especially for moves in from New Jersey before the school year. Book early.
Winter moves
Winter dates are easier to book, and we bring floor protection for snow and slush.
